Wasabi * Wasabia japonica

Wasabi grown in soil, prefers cool, moist, well drained position. Do not let dry out in summer, roots will be bitter. Morning filtered sun with afternoon shade is ideal. Wasabi takes 18mths to 2yrs to grow mature roots. Wasabi is in the Brassica family and is prone to white butterfly attack, you can spray with dipel or cut the leaves back at this time and top with compost. If grown in pots repot twice yearly, gradually pot in to next size pot, keep moist but not waterlogged.
